November 2008—paying it forward
It’s probably been the most “interesting” year of my life (though there have been a few interesting ones before!), and starting a new job in a new company after pretty much working at one place in my “modern” era has been a real treat. The world changed right about the time I did…but if there’s one thing I’ve been pretty good at over the years it’s knowing how to survive. It may be my only skill as far as I can tell, I’m not much of a “right place at the right time” kind of guy but once I’m in place I seem to find a way to make it hard to get rid of me. We shall see, as the bigger world continues to be an interesting place, and I expect it will continue to get more difficult for a while.
I’ve been all consumed the last 7 weeks with getting up to speed quickly in my new day job. After a couple weeks I thought I had it figured out, but everything changed. A couple more weeks I though I had a handle on it again, and things changed again. I’ve been putting more hours in than I ever intended but I think I’m only as confused as everybody else now.
This weekend I actually made some time to work through a backing track I’ve been promising to the world for the last couple months, and even started to write a new song. I also gave some thought to the future of Gator-Studios.com. I started this business somewhat accidentally and it takes a lot of my time, but I have enjoyed the work, the results and the impact we’ve had across the globe over the last 3 years. So what’s the plan going forward?

Let’s Talk MP3’s and quality
Hey all! It’s been a while (and a hell of a day job ride lol) since I last blogged about anything useful to the home recorders out there, so while I’m awaiting feedback on a mix ‘n master job I’m doing (some rockin’ stuff by the way!), I thought I’d talk about MP3 quality. And point 1 is…MP3 QUALITY SUCKS!!!!

Customizing Backing Tracks? You bet!
We’ve been doing Backing Tracks for about a year now, and it’s been a great experience in understanding exactly what is going on in today’s hits. It’s also allowed us to meet a lot of new people around the globe and be a part of their talent shows, club shows, personal recordings, and fun times with their friends.
Our catalog is not large, but continues to grow. Rather than turn into just another “karaoke factory” on the internet, we decided to focus on putting together the best quality tracks you can find. When you use our Backing Tracks, you sound like you are ”in the band” instead of singing or playing over it.
There’s 2 things we do to separate from the crowd. First, we build each track from the ground up right here at Gator-Studios.com. Second, we don’t hide behind our website, we use it to reach out!

Dis-Integration
Yes, it was to be a grand plan…integrate the blog and forum, it was going so well. Until my blog posts started coming out from Mickey the Shirtless Moderator. I couldn’t seem to pen anything under my own name. So I tried to separate the two entities…and reeely reely bad stuff happened to the forum!
Oh well, it was all bollox-talking anyway, so now we can start fresh, right?
The forums are back up, so slide by and register once again, won’t take but a minute. Most of the functionality I put in originally is back too, let me know if you find something broken or missing.
